Solomon tells us in Proverbs 23:7 just how important our inner thoughts are.
We are told, in no uncertain terms in this scripture, that how we think, "feel", in our hearts, is who we are and who we will be. And it's a dangerous game to think badly in our hearts.
It makes us an easy target for resentment, bitterness and a whole host of rotten roots to spring forth within us.
It is fairly easy to smile, be polite and speak to someone that maybe we just really don't care for, but make no mistake, even though they may not know our true inner thoughts, God does.
I don't mean we should be rude or brutal to those we have less than joyous feelings about.
I mean, take a little time in prayer about it, read what God's word says and try to improve your feelings and thoughts so that you can begin to "thinketh in your heart" with the love of Christ.
Christ tells us in
John 15:12 "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you."
This is not as easy as it should be. But over my years of Bible study, I have found that it is SO much easier, natural even, when you spend time with God in His word DAILY!
It takes practice, commitment, patience, grace and love to re-train yourself to think with love in your heart.
But God IS love! And He is certainly willing, able and qualified to lead you in this and everything else in your life!
I cannot imagine, how much better this world would be if we all, at least attempted and purposed to truly think with God's heart.
My prayer for you today is that you will consider purposing your thoughts and feelings towards love and kindness. May you seek God's guidance from His word so that you may love the way Christ commanded us. And I pray for a blessing of love over each of you, in Jesus' name, Amen.
